COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Argentina
REGION: Mendoza
BLEND: 100% Malbec
About: Mendoza has an enviable array of grape varieties, many of which are planted at high altitudes. The long summers mean the wines have wonderfully pure tasting fruit, and this wine is a great example of this. Produced by award-winning winemaker Hervé Joyaux Fabre.
VINEYARDS & VITICULTURE The vines grown in the foothills of mountain ranges, more than 950m above sea level. This Malbec is produced from vines that are 30 years old on average and the yield is around 45hl/hectare.
WINEMAKING The grapes are harvested at the end of March by hand into small trays of 20kg to prevent damage. They are then meticulously sorted in order to select the best grapes for this wine. Cold maceration takes for 5 days followed by fermentation in temperature controlled tanks at 26-28° with 4 pump overs per day and a period of 20 days of maceration.
Tasting Notes: This wine has a dark red colour with violets shiny tones. It has been aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The nose has ripe black cherry fruit aromas with perfumed elegance from hints of violets and liquorice. The palate is smooth and rich, with plenty of dark fruit, layers of soft oak, and lighter floral notes.
