Country:  France
Region:  Pauillac, Bordeaux

Grape varieties:  Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot

About:  Château Lynch-Bages has been owned by the Cazes family since 1939

It has stayed with them ever since, and the family has expanded their holdings to vineyards in Bordeaux (Villa Bel-Air, Les Ormes de Pez, Michel Lynch), Rhône (Domaine des Sénéchaux), Minervois (Domaine l’Ostal Cazes), Douro (Roquette & Cazes) and were involved in the setup of Tappanappa in Coonawarra. They also own the nearby luxury hotel and restaurant called Château Cordeillan-Bages. The forward thinking nature of the estate can be seen from the fact that in 1986 they were one of the first châteaux to promote their wine in China, meaning that they are now one of the most established and popular brands in the Chinese wine market.

This is the second wine of Echo de Lynch-Bages and as its name suggests, it does not carry the same weight and power as the Grand Vin. However, this is one of the Bordeaux properties who have out performed their classified standing and historic quality of late, offering far more than anticipated.

This, their second wine, is outstanding. It echoes the elegance and aromatic character of the Grand Vin.  It's blocky Pauillac tannins, the Echo is firm and boldly structured. Unveiling a pure Cabernet precision.  Echo is an excellent introduction to the Lynch-Bages and Pauillac style. Lighter and younger drinking than its bolder older sibling, it nonetheless receives the same care and attention as the Grand Vin.

French oak barrels for 12 months, in barrels used for one previous vintage.

Tasting Notes:  A very impressive, creamy blackcurrant and strawberry fruit and a kick of sweet cassis fruit well proportioned with silky, but extremely ripe tannins.   Fresh, vibrant, lively and ultra fine with a long and balanced finish.  This is an excellent (and very good-value) glimpse at the wonders of the estate, but is also a very good wine in its own right.

Medium-bodied, drink between 2021 and 2029.
