Sarah's Top Tipple

Sarah's Top Tipple

This week Sarah, our Petersfield Manager has picked one of her favourite sweet wines for our Top Tipple feature!!

Catellari Bergaglio Gavium Passito from Piedmont, Italy is Sarah's Top Tip this week:

Tasting Notes This wine is best described as Apricots in a glass. It offers fresh acidity and delicious dried fruit sweetness without being overly sticky or sickly.

Why is it so good?

Passito when made well has a delicious balance of acidity and sweetness that makes it a great match for many sweet offerings.

What should you eat with it?

If you are a fan of cheesecake, tarte tatin, almond slices, Amaretti biscuits or even lemon tart, then this wine has to be the essential part of the meal.

A bit about Sarah Purdon....

Sarah is the Manager of our Petersfield Shop!

Whilst rearing rare breed cattle for slow grown beef Sarah was approached by one of her customers, a director of a wine company, to join Fine Wine events and match different beef recipes to the wines.  Her love of wine and especially food and wine pairing grew from there.

She went on to work in various areas of the wine and spirits industry, working with distilleries, buying for a chain of shops and consulting for a wine company in Hong Kong.  One of her highlights was hosting pop up dining for charity events with Tom Kerridge, Mark Tilling and matching wines to their great menus.

For the last 2 years she has been looking after our Petersfield Shop and enjoying the diverse selection of wines and spirits that the General Wine Company offer.
