" Our aim and vision behind our small Cornish distillery is to make great-tasting spirits with integrity. We aim to do this by going back to basics - using traditional techniques, quality ingredients and old-fashioned equipment. We believe the human touch in everything is absolutely crucial for superiority; Our copper pot still is fired by flame and judged by eye. Our botanicals are selected by sight and feel. Our bottles are individually filled, corked, sealed, labelled, numbered and waxed by hand. Our spirits are rigourously tested by nose and taste. What do we do differently to make our spirits taste better? There are only 300 bottles created in each batch, often it is less. This means we can give the proper care and attention needed to turn every bottle into something really quite brilliant; Our still is fired by flame. The myriad of micro reactions in the pot where the copper meets the fire achieves an incredible level of complexity; We do a one-shot distillation, which means exactly the right blend of botanicals is used in every run to make an entirely finished spirit. Extravagant, but uncompromising. BOTANICALS Everyone knows that the best botanicals make the best gin and pastis; That is why we get most of ours from a lovely chap called David, a botanical expert who has spent the last 30 years trawling the globe to source the best herbs and spices around; Our fresh citrus fruit is sourced from all around the world, depending on where they are perfectly ripe and in season. We grow our own Devon violets for Tarquins Gin. CORNWALLS FIRST GIN FOR OVER A CENTURY. GOLD AWARD WINNER AT THE INTERNATIONAL WINE &; SPIRITS COMPETITION - IWSC 2014. A contemporary take on a classic London Dry, we use fragrant handpicked Devon violets and fresh orange zest to deliver an aromatic sensation unlike any other; We like to think the result is comparable to stumbling upon a beautiful orange blossom in the middle of a crisp, dry pine forest;Only the best and most pure spirit (the heart) makes it into Tarquins Gin, which is diluted to bottling strength at 42% with Cornish spring water. One unusual ingredient is the Devon violet. From these I take the delicate leaves, which add a vibrant green freshness to the gin and create something deliciously unique. - Tarquin, Head Distiller BOTANICALS Our juniper is from Kosovo, it is fresh and earthy/woody, but also quite floral. To complement, we use lemon-sherberty coriander seeds from Bulgaria, rather than the hot and spicy Moroccon variety. The citrus nots come from the fresh fruit zests of sweet orange, lemon and grapefruit, from wherever they are in season. We also use angelica root from Poland, orris root from Morocco, green cardamom seeds from Guatemala, bitter almond from Morocco, cinnamon from Madagascar, liquorice root from Uzbekistan; And Devon violets from the garden. HOW TO ENJOY IT Quin and Tonic 1 part Tarquins Gin to 4 parts tonic, with lots of ice. We like ours most with a wedge of lime. Martini - The timeless classic 5 parts Tarquins Gin, 1 part dry vermouth. We like ours with a lemon twist. Cornish Martini Same as above, but with a drop of our Cornish Pastis. Absolutely delicious.
