Region:  Bordeaux

Grape variety:  Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon

About:  About:  Château de Carbonneau is a family run estate comprising 50 hectares of wines meticulously tended by Wilfrid and Jacquie Franc de Ferriere since 1992. During the 19th and early 20th centuries both red and sweet white wines were produced at the Chateau de Carbonneau. At the time, the Grand Larousse considered Château de Carbonneau to be among the better producers of Bordeaux. After the economic crisis of the 1930 however the grapes harvested at Carbonneau were vinified and aged at the newly-founded Cave Cooperative de Gensac. It was not until 1996 that Wilfried and Jacquie Franc de Ferriere re-established Château de Carbonneau in its own right and the wines are now vinified and aged in the Château with the assistance of the oenological laboratory of Soussac.

Tasting Notes:  The Cuvée Classique is a blend of 40% merlot and 60% cabernet sauvignon, aged for one year in stainless steel vats.  The unleashes smooth tannins and blackberry and spiced bramble fruit.
