Second Grape:Cabernet Franc
Chateau La Pointe in Pomerol changed hands in 2007, sold by the DArfeuille family to Generali France. With 23 hectares under vine, this is one of the largest estates in Pomerol. Consisting of only around 785 hectares, this bijou appellation produces some of the finest wines of Bordeaux. Not only is the appellation small to begin with, it is also Sub-divided to an unusual extent, the average vineyard holding being just 5 hectares; The colour is deep, opaque, beautifully clear. The first impression on the eye is one of density. In the palate, the texture is velvety and suave. There is good tension and freshness in the remarkably long finish. The oak is extremely well integrated, giving way to black fruit and violet nots. This vintage is characterized by its round, unctuous mid-palate, finishing on that little touch of wicked tastiness particularly appreciated at La Pointe.
