Durif is such a local hero that it is sometimes called Rutherglen Durif. The variety is a cross of Peloursin and Shira and it prospers almost exclusively in North East Victoria. Dark and brooding - but with wonderful aromatics and a savoury - rather than heavy palate - which is full and surprisingly soft but has a typical solid tannin structure.
