Karavitakis Winery, Little Prince Red, Chania, Crete - 750ml
About the vintage: What could possibly be said about 2018. To put it fairly on paper it was a challenging one, probably one of the most difficult vintage of the last 10 years. Quite bad timing rain along with a lot of heat was not an easy task. Our staff was struggling to maintain quality, even if this meant loosing 35% of the crop. We decided to be very strict and institute severe grape sorting. While this brought less grapes, we managed to maintain quality. This of course meant a lot of work in the winery. The final result was surprisingly good and gave us a big relief when it was time to release the vintage
Nikos Karavitakis Winemaker Notes: Elevated notes of black cherries, sage and pomegranate liquor with a quick flash of sweet paprika in the beginning followed by bright raspberry on the nose. Approach- able on the palate, with gentle tannins, straightforward berry style flavors and just a touch of thyme. Very elegant alcohol level wraps the wine offering the necessary balance. This ia a very versatile red and can be enjoyed even a bit chilled. Would pair perfectly with a cheese platter, light poultry, or red sauce pasta.
