About:  Chateau de Carbonneau is a family run estate comprising 50 hectares of wines meticulously tended by Wilfrid and Jacquie Franc de Ferriere since 1992. During the 19th and early 20th centuries both red and sweet white wines were produced at the Chateau de Carbonneau. At the time, the Grand Larousse considered Chateau de Carbonneau to be among the better producers of Bordeaux. After the economic crisis of the 1930 however the grapes harvested at Carbonneau were vinified and aged at the newly-founded Cave Cooperative de Gensac. It was not until 1996 that Wilfried and Jacquie Franc de Ferriere re-established Chateau de Carbonneau in its own right and the wines are now vinified and aged in the Chateau with the assistance of the oenological laboratory of Soussac.

Tasting Notes:    Harvested a week before the red wines this beautiful Rose maintains a freshness due to fermentation at low temperatures.  A pale powder rose colour with salmon highlights. The nose is delicious: boiled lollies, grenadine and sherbert. The attack is full and the palate soft with hints of pink grapefruit and candied citrus peel. The final is juicy and mouth-watering dominated by grapefruit zest. Drinks beautifully with salmon carpaccio, shell fish or gravalax.
