Harry from our Liphook Shop has chosen this week's Top Tipple!
E. Guigal Cote-Rotie, is Harry's Top Tip this week:
Tasting Notes - Eye : Dark ruby red
Nose : Spices, red berries and delicate oak aromas
Palate : Round soft tannins. Aromas of rasberry, blackberry and vanilla
Overall : Balance between scarcely perceptible acidity and tannins which add ageing potential and softened by long ageing in oak.
Why is it so good?
A wine I used to drink with my Grandad on special occasions and it went great with the Christmas dinner, or to cure the Boxing Day hangover. It's a more refined style of Syrah from the Northern Rhone and the dash of Viognier just helps to balance the wine and lower the acidity from the Syrah.
What should you eat with it?
Canard a la Presse! Or just pan fried duck breast if you ain't that posh.

I've been bought up appreciating wine.
With access to my Grandads cellar from an early age, tasting Claret's whenever he opened a bottle. After working in Australia and drinking some amazing plonk I started working in the wine trade in the UK. I enjoy hosting wine tastings and trying new and exciting wines from around the world. I started at The General Wine Company in April 2021 and love selling great wine to other wine lovers! Harry
