Pete Przybylinski Duckhorn Vinetards visiting The General Wine Company in PetersfieldPete Przybylinski from Duckhorn Vineyards came to visit our Petersfield and Liphook shops today to let us taste some of their latest offerings. All the wines were wonderful but the Paraduxx in particular is stunning.

2009 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc     

This complex and focused Sauvignon Blanc seamlessly combines mouth-filling fruit with refreshing acidity. The aromas highlight elements of bright citrus and passion fruit, underscored by pineapple and layers of gala apple and lychee. The tropical aromas are echoed on the palate and given added dimension by the addition of Semillon, which helps to showcase the juicy guava, passion fruit and pineapple upside-down cake flavors, alongside notes of fresh apple, vanilla and key lime pie.

2007 Paraduxx Napa Valley Red Wine    

Dark, deep, vibrant red color

Aromas of raspberry, cherry, cedar, spice, caramelized brown sugar, and sweet oak accented by a hint of white pepper

Dark cherry and raspberry flavors mingle with rich, compelling layers of blueberry, cedar and molasses

Smooth entry followed by a full mid-palate with integrated nuances of fruit and oak leading to a long finish with balanced resolved tannins.

1% Cabernet Franc

2008 Migration Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

The 2008 growing season yielded a very complex and complete expression of Migration, with a rich, seamless entry, well-integrated tannins and a harmonious balance between fruit, texture and spice. The nose displays bright cherry, strawberry compote, violet and rhubarb layers, alongside more exotic elements of Asian spice, hickory, earth and roasted meats. These aromatics are echoed on the palate, and further supported by juicy acidity and notes of strawberry, plum, toffee, pie crust and a hint of white pepper.

2007 Goldeneye Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

A product of the exceptional 2007 growing season, this medium-weight Pinot Noir reflects the depth and diversity of great Anderson Valley winegrowing, combining excellent structure and acidity, with layered fruit and firm tannins. Sophisticated aromas of star anise, morel mushrooms and toasty oak segue to enticing ripe berry and bittersweet chocolate notes, underscored by hints of black licorice and truffle. A marriage of strength and harmony, this Pinot Noir should age very well.

Cline Cellars Wine Dinner at Annie Jones - UPDATE

The General Wine Company is delighted to invite you to join us for an evening of fun, fine wine and dinner - an organoleptic extravaganza of oral pleasure!

We are extremely lucky to have Charlie Cline from Cline Cellars in California over especially to chat through his vinous wonders. 

There will be four ludicrously tasty seasonal courses crafted by the hugely talented Steven Ranson in the Annie Jones kitchen, along with a range of Charlie’s finest – personally selected to pair with each course – to enjoy in a relaxing and interactive environment.

Spaces are very limited, and those who know Steven’s food and Charlie’s wines (or even don’t!), will know
